X5350 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}4/T.19.12.29. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} HYPOID REAR AXLE 20/25 H.P. X.2066 X.5350 I have consulted the two officials at Derby who sign the Standardisation sheets, i.e. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, and whilst we are generally agreed that the tests suggested by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} are severe and may be quite adequate, and that his test is really a statement of fact and the result of our past experience, we should possibly carry out our standardisation sheet. It should be remembered that this is a complete new Rear Axle with the exception of brakes, and that road running is very essential. It might not be quite necessary to do 10,000 miles, but considerable road testing is necessary, Which Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, I see, promises in his Note. We think, therefore, the best way will be as you suggest, to be guided by results of the test, but we think it is highly important to rigidly stick to the standardisation Sheet.
