R.R. 493A (50m) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. -3- Expl. No. REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG26. 2. 25. It was suggested that the cutout should be turned through an angle to avoid this, and the oil filler on the rear axle fixed to the other side of the axle case. (7) Engine support. The engine had dropped slightly at the front so that the starting handle could not be engaged. It was agreed that stiffer supports should be made for the front end of the engine, - E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} to instruct. (8) Gudgeon Pin knocks. The engine developed slight knocks from the gudgeon pin which were audible when the engine was idling. It was agreed that the fit of the gudgeon pins should be slightly modified. (9) Explosions in silencer. 98-NK car was considerably improved after we had made the modification at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence of ensuring that the throttle was positively shut. On the run back from Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence the explosions were no different than we get on a standard 40/50 HP. We are however carrying out experiments instructed by R.{Sir Henry Royce} at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. 98-NK car is now at Chateauroux. It is intended that it shall run 500 miles per day. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
