R.R. 493A (50m) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. -2- Expl. No. REF: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG26.2.25. (2) Steering. The steering has become slightly freer after the 1500 miles running. The effort required was still considerable on full lock. We have completed an experimental steering in which the two levers fixed to the rocking shaft are bolted solidly together, instead of relying on the splines. This was instructed by you by wire from Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence . We expect to have this on test tomorrow. We also expect shortly to be able to supply figures shewing the difference in effort required on a standard 40/50 HP. steering compared with the EAC, which is complained of. (3) Clutch. The clutch on 98-NK car was not working well - it would jagger when taking up the load. This is receiving attention. It is anticipated on 'B' steering cars that we may have to increase the clutch pedal pressure in order to provide the necessary clearance in the clutch. We do not anticipate any serious difficulty or modification. (4) Radiator Shutter Control. The shutter control on 98-NK car was not considered entirely satisfactory, and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} is supplying a fresh design. (5) Oil leak from Generater Drive. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} has promised to send modifications. (6) Cut-out. At the present time the cutout blows on to the leather cover for the rear brake adjustment and destroys it. contd :- | ||
