ETHYL EXPORT CORPORATION THAMES HOUSE, MILLBANK, LONDON, S.W.1. Copy of letter received from the laboratory. 19th July, 1935. Oil - Sample No.16627. Sludge - " No.16628. We have pleasure in attaching hereto report on a sample of oil and sludge taken from Bentley cars, which have apparently been run on ethyl fuels. You will note that the conclusion we have reached is that the corrosion of aluminium plugs would appear to be due to the oil rather than to the ethyl gasoline, and we suggest that this particular question should be followed up further. You will note also that the proportion of aluminium present in the sludge is very low, and it is possible that if we could examine one of the plugs after removal from the engine - if this is possible - we might be able to obtain more definite evidence on the views expressed in this report. Yours truly, Chief Chemist. | ||
