X 5310 E.1/HP.27.6.32. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hdy.{William Hardy} re. P. 2. and 25-HP. Reverse. We are sending you herewith N.sch.3492 showing the above, received from West WitteringHenry Royce's home town this morning, together with your copy of memo R.2/M.23.6.32. Would you kindly issue the necessary instructions so that we can test this reverse shaft to see whether or not it is satisfactory as regards not coming out of gear. If N.sch.3492 is not satisfactory it will be necessary to alter the main gear box casing, to enable the gear to slide in the reverse direction. This should not affect the transmission or rear cross member, but it depends on the size of the pocket required for housing the reverse pinion in the end of the box.
