fitting FWB. to chassis after their issue by the Works. Fourthly, that, in spite of such extra cost, financially and commercially it is desirable to deliver to customers incomplete chassis at the earliest date at which the Works can deliver them, (subject to all current cars being sold). Taking the fourth point first, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} expects to have one of these incomplete chassis running on the road by the 1st April and Derby expect to deliver to London the first of these incomplete chassis about the 22nd May. As regards the third point the extra cost of fitting FWB later (after issue) is estimated at £30 per chassis. (NOTE: The Works say £23.10 at 150% E.C., make this 190% E.C.). As regards the second point, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' expression of opinion may arise partly from his loyalty to R and partly from a natural caution after past exper- iences. He is anxious that the incomplete chassis should not be delivered to the public because it is not possible to say that a chassis is suitable for FWB until it has been tested with the brakes fitted to it. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} when asked to express an opinion on Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s fears wrote:- 'There is no doubt in my mind as to the 'suitability of 'India' for the FWB we shall 'finally adopt. In regard to testing out FWB 'themselves, we shall undoubtedly have a number 'of problems to solve but once solved, the 'solutions will be capable of application to ''India' as at present defined and understood'. | ||
