FAULTY FITTING OF RADIATOR BRACKETS. --------------------------------- We have been very keen on inspecting the fitting of these on cars on test, owing to the fact that several have been found not very satisfactory, as it is essential that the radiator should be firmly controlled in position and at the same time the joints must be universal and allow for movement of the frame without distorting the radiator. The importance of this point was brought to our attention in the early days by Mr. Hives and the point was taken up generally with the works. We do not feel, however, that the matter is receiving sufficiently careful inspection and attention, and have to-day brought to Mr. Scott's attention a joint off one radiator in which the stem of the lubricator actually projected through the internal portion of the sphere so as to completely upset the spherical joint. We should be glad if you could instruct the works for this job to receive a special routine of inspection and fitting, as we are anxious that the job should be carefully and correctly fitted. We are already receiving complaints on post-war cars delivered [text struck through] of leaky radiators. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
