Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards} PROGRAMME OF TEST BED WORK. Further to our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}2/MH.{M. Huckerby}D.12.37. WRAITH III NO.6 UNIT. NO.30 BED. (1st.BED). Following the transfer of the blocks and pistons off No.7 unit to the above unit on account of bad oil consumption and scuffing will you please test as follows. Running on Motorine C take an oil consumption over 1 hr. at 4000 and repeat. Repeat until a consistent figure is obtained. It is anticipated that the consumption will be poor as on Wraith No.7 unit in which case new L Section 2nd. compression rings to be fitted. These rings should have the L section machined by us and not as existing which were supplied from outside with fully machined L section. It is suspected that the outside firm are machining the external diameter after the L section has been machined in the rings. Continue with induction pipe tests (trial of horizontal S.U.) until No.8 unit is ready, when No.6 should be returned to the shop. WRAITH III NO.8 UNIT. The unit is new other than the block and pistons which are ex No.6 unit. This should be tested in accordance with usual routing. | ||
