Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said he considered it would be a good thing to drop J.III work for a time and concentrate on Peregrine and Benasport, particularly as the 20/25 was now so satisfactory and selling well.

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} said it would assist him in speeding up urgent work if J.III could be held up for a time.

Item 3 on agenda. Position re easy change on lower gears and position re impossible type first speed of various models.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} explained that there are several ways of dealing with the first speed problem, some involving comparatively little alteration to existing parts and others requiring very much alteration even to the extent of lengthening the gear box and interfering with propeller shaft and frame cross members. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} will discuss the subject with R.{Sir Henry Royce}

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reported that synchro mesh to second speed can only be applied by making considerable alteration, which involves a lot of design work.

Ha. is making certain roughly rigged up tests to obtain data.

Easy change generally was discussed and included free wheels and Vacuum operated clutches.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed to increase the sanction for P.II Synchro Gear Boxes from 10 sets to 20 sets.

Item 4 on agenda. Position re possibilities of less expensive exhaust system after the first 100 of 'U' Series.

Ha. reported that he had a better and less expensive exhaust system developed, and particulars have been given to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} to enable him to produce designs.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that this matter was important in view of material being ordered soon.

Item 5 on agenda. Controllable shook dampers. Item 9 of last Minutes.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reported that R.{Sir Henry Royce} had now approved of proposals put up for his consideration, and the job is now in BY's hands.
