Instructions regarding parts and modifications for Spring Drive Couplings on chassis 68-AU and 62-AU.

(Moy).(underline) (underline)Re Spring Drive Couplings.(underline) By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} informs us that CJ. and BJ. have instructed that a spring drive coupling barrel be sent to N. to be fitted to 62-AU.(Moy), and also that the coupling already fitted to 68-AU. is to remain on. On the standard post-war chassis (up to end of "U" series), lubrication of the coupling blocks is effected by a pipe in the coupling barrel, but when the "rigid" coupling barrel is replaced by a spring coupling barrel, no means of lubricating exists unless the coupling rings are also changed for rings provided with oil plugs. The pre-war coupling rings G.1813 are suitable. We consider that a pair of these rings should be sent to N. for them to fit to Chassis 68-AU. at the earliest opportunity, because at present no means is provided for lubrication of either the spring drive or the coupling blocks. The oil plugs in the G.1813 rings provide for lubrication of both these points. Will BP. please instruct for the following to be sent to N. :- (underline)For Chassis 68-AU.(underline) 2. G.1713.
