To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Bentley Clutch. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/E6.3.36

Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}E.BY. (strikethrough)

In the 3rd paragraph of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.5.3.36 you say that you are sorry that we are committed to the Borg and Beck clutches and that fortunately we can revert to the RR clutch on the Bentley almost immediately.

I thought the position was that the reason for going over to the Borg and Beck clutch on the Bentley was because we were having a good deal of trouble with the RR clutch and there was nothing available to get us over the trouble.

Am I not correct in saying that the testing of the car with the clutch that we have put into production was carried out with the Borg and Beck clutch?

If my assumption is wrong, please let me know the correct facts but, if I am right, then I should like to know what RR clutch it is that you say we could rebu (strikethrough) revert to on th (strikethrough) the Bentley almost immediately and what testing has it been submitted to on a 4 1/4-litre Bentley car.
