Contd. -3- 3. C.A.V. starter switch. For this item, it will be necessary to send an enquiry to Messrs. C.A.V. for a suitable starter switch to be used in conjunction with the above starter. 4. C.A.V. switchbox. For this item it will be necessary to send an enquiry to Messrs. C.A.V. for a switchbox comprising dynamo switch, head, side, and tail lamp switches, and possibly dynamo field fuse. We do not require one of their standard switchboxes with instruments, as we do not use a voltmeter, and our ammeter will be independent. Samples to be obtained for examination. In the case of the Lucas equipment, the cutout (Lucas) will be contained in the switchbox. In the case of the C.A.V. equipment, it is proposed to use Bleriot Phi cutouts, of which we have already received a sufficient number to supply these three chassis. It will be seen, therefore, that we require from C.A.V. three more Goshawk dynamos and three more starter motors, also three switches and three switchboxes if they have the right thing. No junction box will be required for these six chassis. As the system was primarily intended to be an earthed system, the motors, both C.A.V. and Lucas, should be obtained with one terminal earthed to the carcase. In the case of the dynamos, however, this should not be done. Should we sometime want to use these machines with the R.R. Goshawk switchbox and combined distribution box and cutout, the earthing connection will be made at the cutout and not at the dynamo. Until the electrical system is more Contd. | ||
