R.{Sir Henry Royce} Chandler. Dear Sirs, RE:- 'LONG' TYPE CLUTCHES. We thank you for your letter of the 6th. instant, and in connection with the first paragraph presume that you are interested in the assembled thickness of the driven plate, and not the pressure plate as mentioned therein. If our assumption is correct then the dimension employed by the Long Company for assembly purposes in order to obtain a reading of 2" from fly-wheel face to release lever adjusting screw is .356". As however, you are using our design driven plate with the Long clutch, then in connection with which the rig thickness is .340, and bearing in mind the release lever ratio of 4.72/1, this would have the effect of altering the 2" dimension by an additional figure of .075". The figure of .330" referred to in your letter, must have been decided upon by your good selves, as our 10" and 11" Borg & Beck clutches are assembled to a rig thickness of .340". Yours faithfully, BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} T. Barker. Manager. Sales Department. LONG IF .356 = 2" THEN .340 = 2.075 " .330 = 2.123 | ||
