To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X508 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/KW.9.7.35 E/Psn. asked me for a drawing of the induction pipe we are running on the large bore 20/25. Here is a print of the one we have got at present on 20-G-IV. We are making various modifications round the hot-spot. There is a certain amount of difficulty about the exhaust manifold to suit this pipe. It is not a very good shape for standing up under high temperatures. We may have to go to a sliding joint such as was previously designed for the 20/25 on the two side branches. We are not in favour of ribs on exhaust pipes, as these tend to raise the under bonnet temperature. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
