De/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.1/AD4.11.31. LUCAS ELECTRIC WINDSCREEN WIPER. We have had fitted to 18-GIV for the test in France, a new type Lucas windscreen wiper. This wiper is the result of about two years experimental work in the Lucas research laboratories and with the exception of the one fitted to Mr. Oliver Lucas's Humber Snipe, this is the first one to be fitted to a car. Messrs. Lucas had this wiper working on a screen behind the scenes on their stand at Olympia and their research director Dr. E.O.Turner is satisfied that it is a great improvement over the present standard Lucas electric wiper which has given a lot of trouble in service. The special features are that the gear box from which the usual whirring noise emanates is placed outside the screen along with the drive for the duel wiper arms, all being totally enclosed in a chromium plated water proof fittings, the small electric motor being located inside the screen.
