X.3917 - DETAILS OF AMERICAN BOSCH MAGNETO
TYPE B.6.

X.1723 Weight of this machine is 11.0 lbs.

(Field - The two magnets are uncovered and simply protected by a coat of black enamel. They are each 12.0" long or 6.0" high, 1.5" wide, and .4" thick, and are screwed to pole shoes, let into the sides of an aluminium box, which practically encloses the armature and condenser. The pole-shoes are of solid cast iron.

Not laminated. Armature. This has an active length of 2.6" and a length between armature poles of 2.2". The safety gap is of very small and simple design. Attached to one end of the armature is a box containing the condenser, which is partly insulated at the top and bottom, by empire cloth; but the sides have only a small piece of red pressed paper, which more serves the purpose of a piece of packing, than insulation. Also the primary connections to the condenser have evidently been soldered with an acid flux, as the wires were practically eaten through.
