X3735 A.T. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 1/F6.1.21. RE. FAULTY HALF LINK WHITTLE BELTS FOR DYNAMO DRIVE. We still continue to have trouble with the above belts. Although they are an improvement as regards having less "drive" vibration, which was our complaint with the longer link belts, we find that the shorter links are unreliable and break, the actual steel connecting links failing. The belts are also noisy, owing to the metallic connection on to the flanges of the pulley, caused by the ends of the metal link pins breaking through the sides of the leather. In some cases the wood screws are also too long and do the same. I am returning to you a sample of belt showing these faults, which matter I should be glad if you will take up with the makers and Works Inspectors. Please arrange for this to be returned or replaced, as we are now one short for cars on test. EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
