Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,

Derby.

Dear Sirs,

RE FAN BELTS.

Yours of yesterday to hand. Although you wrote me that you were discontinuing the using of these V.Link Fan Belts. You did not state in your communication that you were having any trouble, therefore I drew the conclusion (especially as you had been buying these Belts for some considerable time) that I thought on account of the general slump this might have been the cause, and this is the reason I did not communicate anything to Messrs. Graton & Knight Ltd. only just stating that you had discontinued the Belts and this was in December.

I am in receipt of a communication from our London House Graton & Knight Ltd. this morning, stating that your Mr.Hives your English Engineer and Mr.Olley the Engineer for the Rolls-Royce Co. America had visited our Factory at Worcester, and giving their account of some trouble you were having. Apparently the 3/32" substance Fibre which had been used was to be replaced by 1/8", and that all future shipments to you should have this heavy Fibre. They state that at the time of the visit of Mr.Hives and Mr.Olley at the Worcester Factory they went into the testing of both the Whittle type Belt and the heavy 1/8" fibre Graton & Knight Link V.Belt and that the report of this will be sent on in the near future, which we shall have pleasure in supplying you with as soon as same comes to hand. You can rest assured taking the letter which I received from Graton & Knight this morning into consideration that they will do all they possibly can, and I direct general Representative for the Midland Counties of Graton & Knight Manufacturing Co. will try to get everything adjusted in a satisfactory manner.

Therefore leave the whole matter in my hands which I shall endeavour to handle to our mutual satisfaction.

As soon as your Mr.Hives returns to this Country and that you hear further news as to the Belts, kindly let me know and I shall immediately come over to discuss this matter with you.

In the meantime I beg to remain,

Yours faithfully,

(Sgd.)Thos.J.Gooding.
