P.2. S.M.2. Gearbox.

N. Sch.4241 herewith shows modifications to the 2nd speed S.M. cone and the boss for the rear reverse shaft bearing, to enable the casing to be removed when the rear bearing of the 3rd motion shaft is in place.

Two flats are made on the 2nd speed cone and slight machining is done on the boss.

So far the necessary clearance has been obtained entirely by reducing the boss but we fear that the strength is reduced too much for safety in this case.

We attach a print to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}'s copy.

All production boxes must have this modification.
