X.3563 Extract from Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}3/W.4.2.20. X3719 PE TRIALS CAR FOR AMERICA. With reference to EPS/F24.1.20, I think the following items should be fitted to this chassis. The numbers are the same as quoted in your note. (10) Dashboard to be fitted clear of frame. (11) Latest Type Pendulum Steering Lever. This is already standard. (13) Improved position of oil supply to the engine gears. X.3473. I agree providing we can get the pieces in time. With regard to the following items you will see may remarks: (4) Luggage Carrier with suitable rear petrol tank. X.3507. (Side filler.) X.3889. I do not agree to these items, as the first has not been approved by Mr. Royce, in fact he has suggested considerable modification which will take some time to work out, and as regards the rear petrol tank with side filler this has not got very far as regards design, and it certainly will not be ready by the time the chassis leaves, which I understand is in two months time. (12) Very latest scheme of wiring. X.2778. I am not clear to which scheme you refer. If it is the Earth Return scheme it is clear that this should not be fitted. I think we should fit the present scheme of Glover's wiring. (14) Thermostat Control of Water Circulation. X.3563. I do not think this should be fitted to the chassis for America as it is a device which one could hardly expect to work entirely satisfactorily straight off. Bn.{W.O.
