Regulations and specifications for a 66 Imp. gallon fuel tank, including provisions for race competitors.

" In the sketches in figure IV given as an example, the filler hole on the right hand side of the tank is of large area (3.15" in diameter); a piece of sheet metal is riveted inside the filler neck and shaped to constitute an air passage which extends into the tank (along the upper generatrix) about one third of its length; a perforated baffle plate, placed at the upper part of the tank about midway down its length, prevents the moving liquid reaching the opening of the vent passage direct. "

Art. 8-H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} - Competitors will find, in figure III, a dimensioned drawing of the instantaneous closing branch with a I.I8" nozzle. This information is given to facilitate the designing of the best possible tank filler neck. It is compulsory that this neck shall be circular in shape with a minimum inside diameter of 2". This filler hole will, for preference, be placed as far as possible from the exhaust pipe.

Art. 8-I. - Competitors are expressly enjoined to watch closely that refuelling operations are carried out with the greatest care in order that clumsy manipulation may not nullify the benefits of great safety obtainable from the installation fitted up by the race organisers.

Art. 8-J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} - The storage of any fuel in pits is prohibited. Any breach of this provision would entitle the race Stewards to inflict a penalty of Fcs 200 and I.000 respectively for the first and second offence and then the exclusion of the competitor from the race.

Art. 8-K.{Mr Kilner} - Any attempt made with a view to modifying the physical state or the chemical composition of the regulation fuels in any way will entail the immediate disqualification of all the cars entered by the offending competitor.

Art. 8-L. - The race Stewards reserve the right to instigate all investigations or taking of samples of fuel for the purpose of inspection.
