To D.A. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} -2- E6/G26/7/19 Contd thread as on the existing car, so that if they encounter any obstruction when turning round they only tend to become tighter. They should also have fibre washers in the joint faces so as to be oil retaining. The fibre washer also helps to lock the cover in position. The drive should be tried without a spring and with a certain amount of end slack in the locating coupling of the magneto. If any trouble is caused by this slack a light spring may be inserted in the recess round the magneto shaft nut. Referring to the fabric coupling drive, the double ended driving bolts should be made with square instead of round heads to prevent them turning, and a small turned feature should be provided on the coupling face to engage with the square.
