x145 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}19/KW.18.8.36. To G.W. Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. With reference to GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/8/JAB.16.8.36, the distributor to which we referred is the one on the Bentley. We have sent you 2 sets of arms, but one set is for use in case of fracture. We note your remarks re the trials car, and have taken the matter up with MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} We are glad to hear that you confirm that in your opinion the steering was wandering, because the most difficult complaints with which we have to deal are those when the customer says the steering wanders and we cannot see there is anything wrong with it. We shall be very interested indeed to hear what you do to put it right. We enclose a copy of a report on an investigation which Hardy made on one of the trials cars, and a covering note which we have written. There was no doubt in this case that the pivots were tightening up. I attach the two prints so that you will see the difference between the Bentley and the 20/25. Since the Bentley is satisfactory we are proposing to copy this on the 20/25.
