Dear Mr. Robotham, We have now received from your people an order for three sets of Brake Equipment for the "Myth" Car. We propose to supply at least one set f.o.c. for test purposes, and therefore do not propose to advise your Purchase Department with regard to price at the present moment. I also presume that your requirements will be met if we let you have one set of this Equipment fairly soon, the other two can follow when the cars are ready. In view of our heavy commitments here, you would help us very much if you could give us some idea of your own programme on the assembly of these three cars, as we are most anxious that the Hydraulic Equipment should be ready as soon as you are. As I promised you, we have now been able to make up the Brake Spider which you have designed for this car, and have tested it on our Dynamometer with the Standard Equipment proposed. This Spider deflects very badly indeed under load and has taken an acute permanent set, and I should very strongly advise you to allow us to supply a standard Backplate for use on your Experimental Cars, as we could not take any responsibility for the performance of Brakes fitted with this Spider. I am having a Drawing made up showing the Back-plate I would suggest, and I will arrange this in such a way as to make the minimum of modifications to your Drums. (P.T.O.) Quotations and Contracts are subject to revision of Duty, Transportation Costs, and to acceptance by the Factory, also to unforeseen delays arising from strikes lockouts, transportation, war &c. and force majeure. | ||
