RE HAND STARTERS.

Regarding the hand starters about which there is trouble with the wormwheel shaft bending, EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} uses the term worm shaft, but in no case has it been confirmed that it is the worm shaft, and therefore no alteration should be made to this part.

The wormwheel shaft was strengthened very considerably when we arranged to make all the hand starters suitable for wireless drives.

What we now want to know is, if any of these strengthened wormwheel shafts have failed, if not, we should at once change the original ones to this type.

Will you give the necessary instructions for providing the parts andlet us know how many there are.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
