Contd. -2- EFC5/T7.3.21. Mr. Royce has arrived at a decision of using machines controlled in this manner from considerations of simplicity. The only examples of machines controlled in this manner which we have with us at present are the Rotax and U.S.A. Bosch machines and upon these we shall be, at Mr. Royce's instigation, making certain experimental tests, the results of which will be useful in this connection. We are also making up a table of carcase and armature sizes of all the dynamos we know, which table will be additional to the tables already issued for shunt dynamos and inherently controlled dynamos. Copies of this table will be distributed in due course. Mr. Royce wishes us to consider the costs of dynamos, both those made by us and those obtained from outside, and we have been asked to get some particulars in this connection ready for the next Staff Conference at Derby. In addition to the above, Mr. Royce further wishes us in collaboration with the Design Dept. to make and send him some design calculations of such machines. This matter we shall have to tackle when we have got the more urgent matters well on foot. It will be necessary very soon to supply our Estimating Dept. with complete drawings of the proposed dynamos so as to enable them to get out the costs. This we are arranging more in detail and will give further information almost immediately. FWC | ||
