Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/H6.3.33. Whilst we agree that it is rather a long job to lower the D.W.S. Jack to the ground before lifting commences, and also to wind it back into its box again, we cannot take the 10 mins. quoted as necessary to do the job really seriously. We have timed this job many times in the course of our development work on D.W.S. Jacks, and the latest figure, taken on a production car, was 4 1/2 mins. This was done, not in the quickest possible time, but as one would expect it to be done by a customer. At the same time we realise that improvement in this respect is required, and we are attempting to do something. It is quite easy to state that a two speed gear and quick release are required, but it is an entirely different matter to provide them in the space available and at a reasonable cost. We think that in its present state the D.W.S. system is so great an improvement on its predecessor that complaints from customers will be very scarce. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J.
