X1371 Pt.6/C/7/10/28 MELBOURNE. - 10th October, 1928 Whr{Mr Wheeler}/London c/Ha/Derby c/Ha/Derby c/Ef/Derby c/Ef/Derby Please note that I am getting rather frequent complaints from Rolls-Royce owners of New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I cars that the louvered engine guards permit of the easy ingress of mud which is be-spattered over the whole of the engine, dash board, and inner side of bonnet. This is not only unsightly, and a factor in wear of parts, but calls for considerable amount of labor in cleaning, which, in turn, has a bearing upon sales, in as much as prospective buyers are becoming increasingly of the owner-driven class, - at all events, in this country, - and the ease with which the engine could be kept clean is a very important factor. I shall be glad if you will draw attention of the Drawing Office at Derby to this fault, and suggest to them that difficult though it may seem, something might be done in future design to alleviate this trouble. Mr. Ford of All British Motor Co. Pty. Ltd. informs me that he gets practically as many complaints of this trouble from 20 H.P. owners as from 40/50 H.P. owners. Pt. | ||
