To C. from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} ROY{Sir Henry Royce}2/MG3.2.34 Price's Lubricants (continued) P.S. Since writing the above Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, on further consideration does not agree with the issue of any labels with the Chassis, and suggests we dispense with same - but whether we continue this or otherwise, we should like your opinion. The issue of such labels was introduced some years ago - I was never quite sure whether it was at the instigation of Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} or Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} - and very evidently both Messrs. Price and Wakefield attach considerable importance to such issue, and I should say look on this to some extent as a "quid pro quo" for the low price at which bulk supplies are delivered to Derby. In the case of Messrs. Shell-Mex and The Vacuum Oil Company, as outlined in Paragraph (c) they do not attach so much importance to this, their main anxiety being to get our recommendation in the Instruction Books etc., and authority to advertise the fact. You are probably aware that the 4 oils will mix, i.e. Chassis can leave these Works with Price's or Wakefield's Oil, and can fill up at a later date with any of the 4 Oils. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
