Re-File from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CD. A.W. WY. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EFC. ORIGINAL E1/G28/4/20. 29 APR 1920 2 X.3954. RE MODIFICATIONS TO LUCAS TERMINALS. In reply to your memo DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}9/CB26/4/20, would you kindly note that Mr. Royce agrees to Messrs. Lucas' modification of his original proposals, except that he would like the external connections to the dynamo secured by spring washers and nuts instead of by two lock nuts, also, the washers underneath the back nuts of the four terminal bolts, and of the brush standards to be larger in diameter and thicker, so as to overlap the holes through the metal end plate of the dynamo, and thus not tend to shear the insulation through. Also, the nuts immediately in contact with these washers, he remarks, would be better without the corners of the hexagon removed from the face in contact with the washers, so as to help support the washers in transmitting the pressure of the nuts. Dynamos already delivered Mr. Royce instructs, should be altered to the new scheme. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
