Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Date 19.10.28. Page 3 and to give the correct reading to the last half gallon upon filling up, as the pressure difference is so slight, and the transverse [handwritten correction: flow] through the capillary from back to front tube is very slow at the finish. We feel certain that we can reduce this period of five minutes very considerably, without sacrificing the damping effect which we desire to retain, to avoid any trouble with surge of the liquid in the gauge under varying conditions. We will make some tests on our bench here, to ascertain the length of time taken for the gauge to come to rest under conditions similar to those of filling up, and let you know the result very shortly. Assuring you at all times of our best attention, We remain, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, H.M. HOBSON, Ltd., [Signature] Joint Managing Director. | ||
