PHANTOM STEERING.
-----------------

With reference to Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}13/W, 30.9.26. although the 15CQb. side steering tube springs have not given any trouble during experimental testing, we have already given consideration to the question of reducing the maximum stress in these springs, and find it is impossible unless we make larger diameter springs, which will require new side steering tubes.

We are, however, detailing the new springs and new rear end for the side steering tubes, which will be tested experimentally as soon as possible. If you will let us have the broken springs referred to by Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} we will have them examined to see if there is any defect in the material.
