PHANTOM - EXPERIMENTAL WEIR TYPE INDUCTION PIPE.

We send you herewith drawing LeC. 2465.
This drawing supersedes LeC. 2463. and enables us to carry out a test of this system both on the bench and on a RECF chassis.

The carburetter will come .4 further out approximately than standard, but we think this can be accommodated under the bonnet, with the jet control as last modified.

It is desired to utilise the existing pattern of the induction pipe by cutting out the central piece and inserting a new portion carrying the features for the slot entry. This design provides for an inserted piece carrying a lip all around the edge of the slot. This lip should be tried with both a smooth and a serrated edge. The pipe should also be tested with nothing projecting from the slot into the circle of the gas-way. Subsequently the inserted piece can be done without when it has been determined what form the slot should take.

This test is required for the proposed Phantom engine in which the carburetter is on the steering box side of the chassis.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
