BENSPORT ENGINE SIZE.

The Peregrine engine with a bore and stroke of 2.725 x 4.125 has a capacity of 2364 cc.

The proposed stroke for the Bensport has been reduced to 3.875 giving a capacity of 2220 cc, or 6% less than Peregrine.

We consider it may be desirable that the capacity should be kept below 2300 cc. 30% is added to the capacity of supercharged engines in the regulations for road races. With a capacity of less than 2300 cc a car runs in the 3 litre class, the next class being up to 5 litres.

We could however increase the bore to 2.76" to give a capacity of 2290 cc. This would increase the taxable rating by £1 above that of Peregrine.
