Inspection report on 24-EX front shock absorbers after 10,000 miles, detailing settings, oil condition, and component wear.

AFTER 10,000 MILES.

FRONT.

The setting of these dampers had been disturbed, valves and springs having been changed over, and loads reset in France. We were therefore unable to measure the load variation during the trial.

NEAR SIDE.

The oil level was O.K. The oil had attained a dark brown colour but had not the "muddy" appearance which has been observed on previous occasions. The valves had been interchanged, the drilled valve being in the L.P. side. They were put into their correct seatings before the loads were checked, and found to be :-

Low pressure 128 lb.
High " 120 lb.

This damper had a BZ/A bush - F.82453 - in the intermediate lever - F.82449. When assembled there was no perceptible end play between the pivot bush and the intermediate lever, but the bush appeared to be slightly bell-mouthed. Side play .003". When stripped it was found that the pin was worn crossed (approx. .0005"), whilst the maximum diameter of the bush measured .5014" the average diameter being .5005"
