-2- (slightly tapered). The "not go" of a standard limit would not pass through. The piston diameter varied .002" but this was apparently more due to distortion than wear (since the machining marks were still in evidence all round) and may possibly have been in this condition when assembled. The cylinder was O.K. and also the guides were in excellent condition. The filter was practically free from foreign matter but there were one or two small pieces of metal resting on the refill ball valve. OFF SIDE. As in the N.S. the oil was O.K. The loads when checked with the valves in their correct seatings were :- Low pressure 120 lb. High " 110 lb. The intermediate lever - F.82452 - was case-hardened at the small end and had an oil hole at the top to allow splash lubrication of the pivot bush. When assembled no end play could be felt, and the maximum side play was .004" When stripped the maximum measurable wear on the pivot bush was .00025" and the maximum diameter of the intermediate lever bore .501" (Incidentally, the "go" end of a .500" limit gauge would not pass right through, the bore being slightly tapered). The piston and cylinder were in excellent condition. | ||
