X.3584 Sft.{Mr Swift} O.Mr.Brock c.Mr.Hancock Mr.Matthews. (Stores) BY6/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 20.6.27. Referring to the cork friction driving pieces for the 20 HP. Starting Motor, D.51291, Mr.Hancock has found that these vary quite considerably in regard to the co-efficient of friction they exhibit under standard conditions. He has found that there is as much as 30% variation, and that this is apparently due to the structure of the cork, and that by selecting it is possible to get a more constant condition of affairs than we are getting by taking and fitting them indiscriminately. This being the case, it will be necessary for you to examine carefully the driving pieces in question. Mr.Hancock has volunteered to demonstrate the difference in appearance, and if it is possible to keep our supply going for the present by selection, we ought to do so. In the meantime, I am getting a representative over to discuss this particular aspect of the case with him. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [Handwritten initials: BY] | ||
