To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}7/AP.28.6.37 BENTLEY IGNITION CONTROL In reply to your memo By/Cgh.{W Clough}11/W.23.6.37 regarding the fact that 600 pull rods at 1/6d. each become scrap if the new control (reduced hand range) LeC.5697 is introduced on Bentley, we recommend the following. Adhere to the old control system and fit the modified control only to cases of owners complaints when in service. This can only affect conditions when the hand control is in the retarded position as for starting and we are of the opinion that there will be so few complaints that the loss entailed by scrapping the existing stock of pull rods £45 does not warrant the inclusion of the new control.
