Weybridge. 25.10.33.

The trouble with the valve clearance I spoke to you about this morning was evidently due to sticking when cold. It has not given any further trouble during the day.

The car is running very well. Engine is smooth, we have had no signs of preignition or misfires.

The tests today has been two laps maximum speed then decelerate to 30 m.p.h. Time was lost with the valve this morning, but we have completed 540 miles, total mileage 1153.

Oil consumption for day's mileage 300 m.p.g.
Petrol consumption 10.4 m.p.g.

We have changed the O.S. rear tyre.

The oil temperature has had to be kept down to the 100°C mark by easing up the car. Average water temp. 85°C, on several occasions it went up to 95°C then dropped rapidly to 75°C.

There is quite a lot of oil coming from the rocker cover joint which is draining down into the clutch tray making it difficult to tell whether we are losing oil from the rear engine bearing. It does not appear to be as bad as usual from this source.

Steering remains good and car holds track quite as well as when we first started.
