passage of warm air into the body still being the same as when the ventilators were closed.

NEW TYPE BOSCH MAGNETO:- This gave very good all round results, from my experience rather above the average as regards being good for slow running, the trouble however of the ebonite covers of the make and break mechanism coming off is a point which is in evidence of this car but I am sending on to Holgate a new cover supplied by the Bosch people which they state will overcome this difficulty.

R.B.F. BALL BEARINGS IN GEAR BOX:- One of the most important points about this car was I consider the fact that the side shaft and gears were very good, side shaft I should say was excellent and considerably better than the side shafts we are now producing all round. When I tried this car before it left for France, the side shaft was a poor one and only Fair and had a very hard dryish noise similar to our present trouble. Gears were also poor under power. The prospects of these ball bearings are very promising and I therefore think we should make further tests with them.

AIR PUMP :- New type. Very good but pressure leaks when standing if pump happens to stop in one certain place.

CUT OUT:- Adjustment of mechanism between valve and pedal gets out of order, that is the range of movement of the valve does not agree with the range of movement of the pedal. This is owing to silencer turning round in position and so altering the distance between the pedal and this valve. This happened whilst the car was actually running although the silencer appeared quite firm in its position.

This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. Contd.
