84523 Ha/Wst.7/MA. 30th July, 1934. Messrs.S.Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr.V.Russell. Dear Sir, We thank you for your letter of the 24th instant reference E.2. regarding the electric petrol gauge for our Bentley chassis with warning light contacts incorporated. You will be interested to know that we have already fitted up the first unit to our chassis but at the moment it is giving very unsatisfactory results. It is too early however, to state the exact cause of this irregularity and we are carrying out firther tests. With regard to the drawing which you sent us of the aero type petrol gauge we shall be glad if you will make up for us as quickly as possible a sample gauge calibrated for our Bentley chassis in order that we can examine and test the same. We would prefer to do this before giving you any agreement to this arrangement although we are fairly certain that the arrangement as set out on your drawing will be extremely satisfactory. We shall be glad if you will inform us the earliest possible date at which you can deliver to us this experimental gauge. This gauge of course will also have the warning light contacts for operating the lamp on the instrument board. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
