SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE. 27th July 1934. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ld, DERBY. Attention of Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} West. Dear Sirs, Further in reference to yours of the 17th instant regarding faulty Petrol Tank Gauge Units and Petrol Meter. We have received a report from our works to the effect that the fault of the Tank Unit was the result of a bent pinion. In the case of the Meter, the instrument was badly poised and the pointer would not return to zero. All the instruments concerned were manufactured and despatched to you prior to the super-inspection which was recently instituted and we are confident that failures of this nature cannot occur in our present production. With renewed assurances that every possible effort is being made to give you equipment which is in keeping with your excellent productions. We beg to remain, Yours faithfully, For S.
