LONDON. W.3.

Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

With reference to your TPS/AW/6.1.30., for which we thank you.

We like the look of the fused connection.

We are sending to you the two 40/50 heads with the gland, for modification. We think that they should also be fitted with the brass castings.

One point occurs to us. We have to make a seal at the top and bottom of the glass tube. At the moment you are projecting a gland at the top and fusing at the bottom. One or other of these two fixings must be best, and it would appear to be reasonable to select the more reliable arrangement and use it both ends. Superficially the gland does not appeal to us very strongly.

We are returning the two models of the fused tube and the brass head casting which you sent us as a model the other day.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
