R.{Sir Henry Royce} 54 (100H) (PP 289. 13.12.12) G 4057 COPY. (2) erecting a power plant of our own. I have, however, again been into the question of Willans "Diesel" Engines and an estimate of the cost for driving our works as at present is given on the attached sheet. I have allowed for three sets, each 300 h.p. approximately. Two sets would drive our works and one would be a stand-by.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} After extending the works a little more it would be necessary to put down a forth plant, as a stand-by, and to make almost continuous use of the first three installed. Such a plant would probably be worked by one man and a labourer. I am not sure that the unit chosen is as large as it might be but I should like to discuss this matter with Mr Royce, if it is necessary to go into further detail. A further point to consider is the question of fuel supply. At the present time this fluctuates greatly according to the supply. It is probably due to the effect of the coal strike and also the loss of some oil cargoes at sea that the price is somewhat high. | ||
