X4050. Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}1/MJ. Dec.13th.1929. The Dunlop Rubber Co.Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Sirs, For the attention of MR. Bond. We are getting some car performance figures, and it would be of great value to us if you could give us some information on tyres. The information we should like is the power required to drive one of our 6.75" tyres for 21" rim at 500, 600, 700 and 800 r.p.m. carrying loads of 1,400 1,500, and 1,600 lbs. For the 6" tyre 19" rim on the 20 HP. we should like similar figures with a tyre carrying 900, 1,000 and 1,100 lbs. If you could carry out these tests for pressures of 30, 35 and 40 lbs/sq.in., it would cover the whole running range. If, at the same time as you were carrying out these tests, you could give us some similar figures for the old straight sided 33" x 5" tyres at their normal inflation pressure, it would complete the series of figures. Mr. Healy gave us some figures some years ago, but we have nothing up to date and should therefore welcome any information you can let us have. Yours faithfully, For Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
