26.G.VI. Coachwork.

We have examined the wheel arches on the 15,000 mile body, where the body brackets have cracked away.

It was found on examination that the wheel arches were also cracked all along the bottom edge.

Apparently the wheel arches are not stiff enough for the job, and constant sideways movement has caused the damage.

To prevent this trouble recurring on further bodies we would suggest that reinforcing plates be fitted behind the body brackets on the inside of the wheel arches, fixed to the bottom framing of the body, as well as the wheel arch, with a web in the corner of the plate to stiffen up against side sway.
