Re Thermometer on 40/50 H.P. Chassis. X.682

With reference to Mr. Royce's memo. R9/G4.2.20 regarding the fault with the thermometers, I find that the thermometer on 7-CA also does not work. Will you please dismantle this and ascertain the cause of the failure. It is noticeable that the needles of these thermometers continually vibrate at a high speed presumably from the vibration on the chassis and this may be the cause of the failure. This matter is worth investigating at once as possibly a little damping on the needle may cure our trouble.
