RE. 40/50 FOR MR. ROYCE.

Referring to RL/M29.1.25 ., we are already obtaining for Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} several bodies for underframe experiments and we suggest that we obtain a RR. Beatonson all-weather, built on a subframe, by Messrs. Young & Co. of Bromley.

So far we have only mentioned the underframe experiments to Barkers and Hoopers, where bodies are in hand, but we see no harm in obtaining a body from Youngs of Bromley, as the subframe will ostensibly be for a 40/50 chassis, and the actual chassis we shall use for fetching the body from Youngs will be a 40/50 HP. - 9-PK., which we are having converted to act as a carrier for all these underframe bodies.

Messrs. Young & Co. are aware that we are thinking of underframe experiments as they have very graciously offered us some considerable useful information based on their past years of experience in body mounting.

If you are in agreement with this suggestion we will ask Youngs to submit a design for Mr. Royce's approval.
