MATTERS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES - MARCH 9/1933. CHASSIS. MINUTE 1. J.II or J.III. Progress generally. Self-adjusting tappets. PRESENT POSITION. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states that we are awaiting tests of the modifications instructed. See Minutes of Conference on car work under reference Hyl/R.12.6.33 - Minute 2, item 16 - which reads as follows:- "Automatically adjusted tappets. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} "said these are necessary on J.III. engine "and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said they would be provided. "Exp. Dept. have certain modifications in "hand for improvement of this detail. "Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that as we shall have to pay a "royalty for the use of this device we "may as well get all the information we "can from the licensers. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will, "therefore, get in touch with Mr. "Constantine and obtain all information "possible regarding troubles likely to "be met with in manufacture and operation." MINUTE 2. PEREGRINE GENERALLY. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "nothing further excepting improvements to the Exhaust Cutout." See Minutes of Conference on Car Work - Ref: Hyl/R.12.6.33. - Minute 1 which reads as follows:- "Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that the policy with regard "to Peregrine was not yet definitely "settled and until a settlement is come to "all work on Peregrine must be stopped "and all cars and material removed from "the Works and Experimental Shop and "locked up in store. "Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} will issue definite instructions "to this effect." MINUTE 3. WOODHEAD ROAD SPRINGS. See Minutes of Conference to discuss position of 3½ litre Bentley under reference - Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}2/R.25.5.33. Minute 3 which reads as follows:- "Springs. "Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} enquired the position regarding "springs. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} said Woodhead "Springs would be used on the 1S and on "the 100 chassis. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} said the springs "on the 1S chassis will be of similar "strength to the experimental chassis." | ||
