MATTERS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES - MARCH 9/33. (2).
MINUTE 4. 3½-LITRE BENTLEY. PRESENT POSITION.

Instrument Patches. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} approved drawing R.R. Sch.355.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states "we are waiting to see the model of the final patch."

Awaiting report from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

Intake of Air Silencer.
See Minutes of Conference on Car Work under reference Hyl/R.12.6.33. - Minute 2, item 10, reads as follows - "Air silencer required. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said he is waiting for final report from Exp. Dept."

Engine Finish. **********
See Special Minutes on Road Wheels and other matters - Ref: Hyl/R.20.6.33. Minute 3 reads as follows:- "Finish of Engine". Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} raised the question of the finish for the Bentley engine and referred to Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s recent note on the subject. All were agreed that the only satisfactory finish that we know of is black enamel and it was decided that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} should have an engine finished off in black enamel with relief where he considers necessary so that the engine may be inspected by all concerned."

Cutout. Decided to fit cutout of the Silver Ghost type, but steps to be taken to keep fumes from entering body, probably by the use of a short tail pipe..
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states:- "This cutout has now been tried and is satisfactory mechanically. There is, however, a boom in the body when it is in use and we are trying to eliminate this."

MINUTE 5. SPECTRECodename for Phantom III GENERALLY.
E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} reports that we are now keeping constantly at work on this and making good progress.

Minute No.7 reads:- "E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} raised the question of the type of "connecting rod to be used and explained "the features of each type. It was finally "decided that side by side rods be adopted. "E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said twin carburetters will be used. "Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said the horizontal type carburetters "give the best results and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said he will "make the new carburetters of this type."
